A delicate balance is suggested between the sliced ellipses in the Nova candle holders. The piece made of silver plated metal and glass conveys a sense of quiet refinement.

Nicolas Marischaël pays homage to the 18th century tradition of having a candle supporting element go through the base of the candle holder. In this sense, Nova is a contemporary reframing of a traditional object. The glass part is set into the base of the piece and can be removed. The candle light is beautifully captured and refracted along its enclosing glass cylinder.
