This nine-branched candelabrum was created by silversmith Nicolas Marischaël as a commission for a private collector. It is used to celebrate the eight-day Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. The artist chose to render a cosmic vision with 9 suspended spheres standing for the branches. The light is reflected by the hammered silver plate in a way that suggested a moving vertical water surface. The unit is enchased in an ebony plate which ensures a connection between the air and earth elements.
